2025 has been a year of growth and change for the band. Our first Drum Major, Retired Deputy Chief Terry Munro, stepped aside from his role. He led us through one last Grand Floral Rose Parade, with incoming DM Steve Tank at his side. Chief Muno's final official performance was in June at the Oregon Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Salem. Chief Munro set a high bar for quality and professionalism within the band, and led by example every step of the way. We are forever grateful that he was our Drum Major in these early, formative years, and his impact will last for the long haul. Thank you, Chief Munro!

Late June marked the tragic on-duty murders of Coeur d’Alene Battalion Chief John Morrison and Kootenai County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Frank Harwood. Nearly the entire band, along with a large contingent of other Portland-area firefighters, joined the massive efforts to honor these fallen firefighters in Couer d'Alene in early July. We proudly marched alongside pipers and drummers from far and wide, escorting both men and their families into their ceremonies, and honoring them the best way we know how, through the traditions of a massed band. Our hearts eternally go out to our brothers and sisters following this enormous loss. We are grateful to have been a part of paying respect to these two fallen heroes and helping to support their community (including critically injured CDAFD Engineer David Tysdal) in a time of crisis.
